High school juniors and seniors should be on the lookout for scholarships that can help them pay for higher education. Scholarships don’t need to come from colleges and universities; hundreds of commercial brands, nonprofit organizations, and philanthropic causes offer billions of dollars worth of scholarships that are available to any eligible student who applies for them.
You can apply to as many scholarships as you want, so finding multiple scholarships that fit your needs can help support your education. They may be granted for academic or athletic achievement, extracurricular accomplishments or community activities, or personal essays. Check out these scholarship offers, their requirements, and the application process for each.
College Board of Opportunity Scholarship
Amount: $500 or more
Deadline: Varies
Complete various steps to explore colleges through the College Board such as creating a college list on their site and applying for the FAFSA to get several chances to earn $500, or the Complete Your Journey scholarship ($40,000). Students can opt-in from December of the junior year until February of senior year. Available to all students in the United States.
Doodle 4 Google Scholarship
Award: $30,000
Deadline: March 13, 2020 8:00pm (PT)
K-12 students who submit artwork to be a Google Doodle can win a $30,000 scholarship, a $50,000 tech grant for their school, and more, plus their art will be featured on Google’s homepage. The Doodle is based on a theme that’s announced beforehand.
Scholarships360 No Essay Scholarship
- Amount: $500
- Deadline: June 30th
Available to all high school, college, and graduate students, the $500 scholarship can be awarded to anyone who signs up for Scholarships360’s website and stays engaged with their newsletters and informational content.
$10,000 CollegeXpress No Essay Scholarship
- Amount: $10,000
- Deadline: May 31, 2021
Students who make use of CollegeXpress’s information and resources are eligible to receive this scholarship with no special application process, and one will win the scholarship. It can be applied to one of the 919 partnering colleges and universities, so any freshman, transfer, or graduate student can receive it for the fall.
$1,000 CollegeXpress Community Service Scholarship for Multicultural Students
- Amount: $2,000
- Deadline: April 1st of each year
This multicultural scholarship is open to students who will be a college freshman in the fall who write a 1000 word essay about their community service and why it’s important to them.
Act Locally Scholarship
- Amount: $500
- Deadline: April 1, 2021
Students can submit a 500–1000 word essay about a change they want and how they act locally to support it for a chance to win this scholarship that is targeted toward students who are active in community and volunteer work.
BigSun Scholarship
- Amount: $500
- Deadline: June 19, 2021
This scholarship is available to student-athletes who are high school seniors or in college, regardless of the sport they play. Submit a 500-1000 word essay about participating in sports affects you, your career interests, and your family.
Blacks at Microsoft Scholarships
- Amount: $20,000, $10,000, or $2000
- Deadline: March 31, 2021
Available to African-American high school seniors planning to major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or select business programs (such as finance, business administration, or marketing). Apply with a transcript, resume, and two personal essays, one covering your interest in technology and the other discussing financial need.
Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship
- Amount: $20,000
- Deadline: TBD for 2021
High school seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA can apply to Coca-Cola’s program to support students pursuing higher education which has been active since the late 1980s. 150 scholars are selected each year and $72 million has been given in total.
Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest
- Amount: $10,000
- Deadline: March 9, 2021
This scholarship from the Gallery Collection rewards students who submit a creative and original greeting card. It’s open to all high school, college, and university students, and a vote decides the winners of the contest.

Dream Big Scholarship
- Amount: $1,000
- Deadline: March 1 and October 1
The Dream Big scholarship from RentLingo.com is available to current college and university students ages 18 and older who submit a 750-word essay about their dream job.
Evie Irie Misfit Scholarship
- Amount: $1,000
- Deadline: May 1, 2021
High school students are eligible for this scholarship and can apply with a 250–750 word essay about their experience being a misfit.
Galactic Fed Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship
- Amount: $500
- Deadline: April 2, 2021
Galactic Fed’s scholarship is meant to inspire current or aspiring entrepreneurs who are high school and college students. Students can submit their Bold.org profile and demonstrate their ambition and outside-the-box ideas.
Gordon A. Rich Scholarship
- Amount: $50,000
- Deadline: February 20, 2021
This scholarship is given yearly to a student based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and financial need. Graduating high school seniors starting college who are children of employees of the financial services industry with financial need and academic qualifications can apply.
HireAHelper Skilled Trade & Technology Scholarships
- Amount: $2,000
- Deadline: multiple seasons: Winter: April 16, Spring: July 17, Summer: October 14, and Fall: January 15
Current or incoming high school seniors or those in 2 or 4-year colleges or vocational schools can apply for this scholarship, which requires no essay and is intended to help those who are pursuing degrees that will teach new trades and support small businesses.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
- Amount: up to $30,000 over 4 years
- Deadline February 1
High school seniors from minority backgrounds can apply for this merit-based academic with a letter of recommendation, SAT/ACT scores, and other information to be considered. Finalists will receive in-person interviews to determine the awardee.
JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest
- Amount: 15 awards ranging from $100 to $10,000
- Deadline: February 15, 2021
The essay contest supported by the John F. Kennedy Library awards scholarships to United States high school students in grades nine through twelve who write the best essay (700-1000 words) about historical figures who displayed political courage in a situation like those Kennedy himself wrote about.
Justricia Scholarship for Education
- Amount: $500
- Deadline: January 9, 2021
Students at any level can apply to this scholarship by writing an essay of 250-500 words about how education has changed their lives.
Kaplun Essay Contest
- Amount: $500 to $1,800
- Deadline: March 7, 2021
Students who are in grades 7 through 12 are eligible to submit an essay of 250 to 1500 words, split into levels for 7-9 and 10-12. Topics are related to Jewish values and practices.
Lounge Lizard Web Design Scholarship
- Amount: $1,000
- Deadline: October 4 and February 20
Lounge Lizard, a digital marketing agency, offers this scholarship to high school seniors and college students who are skilled in Web Design. Submissions include a URL that the student is responsible for creating to demonstrate their abilities.
Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship
- Amount: $1,500
- Deadline: August 1, 2021
High seniors, college students, and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in health and fitness and are enrolling in majors related to medicine, physical education, or similar fields can receive this scholarship based on academic and community achievements.
Microsoft Disability Scholarship
- Amount: $20,000
- Deadline: March 1, 2021
High school seniors living with a disability can apply for this scholarship from Microsoft who want a career in the technology industry. A letter of recommendation, transcript, and three essays of 250 to 500 words are required.
Rover Scholarship
- Amount: $2,500

Dog-care company Rover.com is offering this scholarship to high school seniors and college students who write an essay of 400-500 words about how technology has shaped their lives.
Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship
- Amount: $1,500
- Deadline: February 28, 2021
High school seniors who are passionate about helping animals can submit an essay for this award from P.L.A.Y.
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
- Amount: $500 to $10,000
- Deadline: January 31, 2021
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards receive creative works from students and choose the best to give financial awards to students in grades 7 through 12.
Solar Scholarship

Verto Opportunity Grant
